Justic Jose Mendoza



Justice Jose Catral Mendoza ....... a native of Lipa City, Justice Jose Catral Mendoza was born on August 13, 1947 to Col. Ibarra S. Mendoza, a retired PAF officer, and Teresa Catral Mendoza, a mother engaged in poultry-raising. He is the eldest of their eight children. Of his seven siblings, two are priests, two PAF generals, one PAL pilot, one a parish assistant, and the only girl, a PITC Vice-
President. A law degree holder from the San Beda College of Law, he is married to the former Livia Rojas, with whom he has a son, Barleon Rojas Mendoza. After passing the 1971 Bar Examinations, he engaged in private practice and served as a legal officer of the Philippine Banking Corporation, the Manila Electric Co., and the Gokongwei Group of Companies. Before joining the Judiciary as Research Attorney in the Court of Appeals in 1977, he also served as Senior Consular Investigator in the United States Embassy.

Ira Alexis Aclan- The Gifted Child



Ira Alexis Jimenez Aclan.... from Brgy. 4 Lipa City is a Violin Prodigy and Gifted Child who learns to play piano at the early age of 3 and violin at the age of 8. Born on March 23, 1996 to Dr. Abner and Dr. Amy Aclan. She is once featured in a TV Commercial, Promil Milk few years ago, the young girl who is being watched by her mother as she play in a big theater. She trained at Greenhills Music Studio. She has performed in the 3rd Asia Suzuki Conference in the Gala Concert. Right now she’s training under Ms. Gina Medina of St. Scholastica’s College, College of Music and Dr. Gilopez Kabayao. A true example of beauty, brain and talent. Recently she won in the National Competition for Young Artists(NAMCYA) Solo String Category, representing the Division of Lipa City. A recepient of Asia Suzuki Association (ASA) Teacher Certificate in 2011. She has been the sole representative of the Philippines in Asia Suzuki Conference held in Taiwan(2004) and Australia(2005). She is the youngest awardee of Most Outstanding LipeƱo by the City Government of Lipa City. She has also consecutively represented and won for Lipa and CALABARZON at the National Schools Press Conference- the nation's top journalism competition for elementary and secondary schools.

Chelony Mercado- The Lady DJ



Maricel “Chelony” Mercado....... The Lady DJ, Teacher, Entrepreneur and the Artist Maricel Mercado in real life was born on June 23, 1979. She was born and raised in Lipa City, Batangas, and the eldest of 11 siblings. At the age of 2, her parents had seen an indication for arts by making sketches in the wall’s and she likes colorful things and at that age she can already read and write. She had g
rown up as a shy child but independent. She joined in many art competitions in high school and she started working at the age of 16 but continued her studies in college with her BEED course but unfortunately she did not finished it instead she worked for her family. She is a hardworking and had 3 jobs in a week in 2000. She was teaching arts, working in another company and a FM Radio DJ at the same time. At the age of 21, she left her family and lived by her own and had her own tutorial center by the help of her friend. She also worked in many companies with higher positions, despite that she did not finish her college. In 2004 he was working in Da Best 98.5 FM, same year she had joined in the National Competition for the arts (OTSAA) with her students and brought awards home and that was the start of her TV and Movie Career. She worked as an Artist Art Director, Set supervisor, Production Supervisor for TV Shows, Soap Operas and Movie Production. In 2007 he became an Event Specialist and like a normal person, she also had the worst part of her life that put herself into a critical situation because of het personal and love life. But she’s a strong woman, struggled and survived. In 2008, her love for the arts bloomed once again. A stronger Chelony faced the world with a smile and she had joined in many group art exhibits in Manila. She Returned to 98.5 FM and left again for arts and became more active in arts activities. And one of them is the “The World’s Longest Painting”. In 2009, she was appointed as the 3rd President of LAPIS (Lapian Ng Mga Alagad Ng Sining) Batangas Arts Association. She organized art activities for LAPIS and competitions projects and events for herself and the students in different venue, schools and cities. She has done many Art Workshops and Art Exhibits since 2001 up to present. She also had and Art Tours in Belgium, Cape Town South Africa, and in different provinces here in the Philippines.This year, she’s going back to Europe for an Art Tour. And she started making her documentary about some artists here and abroad. As of now, she’s a DJ of Magik 88.7 FM and will give summer Art workshops in selected schools and establishments. She enjoys her life being a DJ, a Teacher and an Entrepreneur, an Artist, a Mother of 2, a Housewife, a Home School Student with continues learning about her everyday life especially how to be called as a Woman. She also believes that when you share the God given talents to others, it like you plant a tree that someday will grow, get taller and gives fruits. When she gets old, she will be proud that the big tree was once a seed from her hand.

Janine Racel “Ninay” Lescano- The Superstar


Janine Racel “Ninay” Lescano.... born March 3 1990 in Lipa City, an alumna of Canossa Academy and De La Salle Lipa. At very young age has competed in different singing competition. Her most notable stint is by becoming a finalist in “Star Power” in ABS CBN hosted by the Mega Star, Sharon Cuneta. She is now happily married to award winning Indie film director and lecturer in De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Emerson Reyes of Rosario Batangas.

Gary Gardoce- The Director



Gary Gardoce.... Photographer/Lightning Director and award winning Cinematographer. Born in Lipa City, he is a graduate of De La Salle University. Some of his major works are from the ABS CBN Horror series “Okatokat 2012” as a lightning director, and cinematographer in the movies like; Enteng ng Ina Mo, Temptation Island, Shake Rattle and Roll X, Dobol Trobol, Let’s Get Redi 2 Rambol!, Enteng Kabisote 4: Okay Ka Fairy Ko.... The Beginning of the Legend, A Love Story and the most notable “Inang Yaya”. He is also an alumnus of De La Salle Lipa.

Paulina Luz Sotto- The Golf Princess



Paulina Luz Sotto.... she is a golfer and has participated in the “McGregor Hong Kong Open Junir Golf Championship in 2004, where she took home the 1st Place trophy for the girls 11-12 division(she’s 12 yrs.old then). She is the daughter of commercial model(San Miguel Beer) and one time movie actress Angela Luz and actor/host of Eat Bulaga Vic Sotto, and she is the Great Great Grand Daughter of Segunda Katigbak and Manuel Luz.

Gov. Vilma Santos- Recto



Vilma Santos-Recto - A multi awarded Philippine Actress married to Ralph Recto of Lipa in 1988 in San Sebastian Cathedral. She was elected Mayor of Lipa in 1998 and became the first female Mayor of the City where she served three terms.

The City of Lipa was on limelight during her term where total renovation in streets, plaza, parks, public schools, city hall and hospitals happened. It was also t

he time when big malls and multi million establishments like call centers invested in Lipa.

Serving as mayor of Lipa City for three consecutive terms (1998 to 2007), she spearheaded the city’s socio-economic and cultural progress giving emphasis on education, health, employment, peace and order, tourism and technology, among others. Undoubtedly, she earned the Most Outstanding Mayor citation from the Civil Service Commission in 2000. In the same year, the Asusasyon ng Kumentarista at Anaunser ng Pilipinas recognized her as Outstanding Mayor in Region IV. In 2002 and 2003, she received the Sandugo Outstanding Local Government Executive by the Department of Health. The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor took cognizance of her effort in upholding the welfare of the marginalized sectors by giving her the Gawad Parangal in 2003.

In 2005, she received twin recognitions as the 2005 Hall of Fame Regional Sandugo Outstanding Mayor (DOH IV-A) and Finalist, 2005 Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran Component City category. Her being conferred as Doctor of Humanities, Honoris Causa by the Lipa City Public College in the same year adds another important recognition for her efficient performance in local governance. In the same year, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor cited her program for the poor constituents through the Special Award: Programs for the Urban Poor.

It is public knowledge that Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto has been an icon in the Philippine movie industry prior to her entry in the political arena. From FAMAS Best Child Actress (1963) to countless best actress awards in almost four decades from unrecognized bodies in the movie industry to FAMAS Hall of Fame Best Actress (1990), URIAN Pinakamahusay na Aktres ng Dekada ’80 (1990) at Dekada ’90 (2000), FAP Lifetime Achievement Awards (1998) and Brussels, Belgium International Film Best Actress (1999), among others. No doubt, she was given recognition by the UP College of Mass Communication as Outstanding Cinematic Achievement Award, Feminist Centennial Filmfest and Gawad Plaridel (Film) in 2005. The following year, she received the Diwata Award from the UP Film Institute.

Vilma Santos-Recto is not only an actress par excellence. She has proven her worth and received numerous awards ad producer, musical variety show host and singer. She has excelled in every endeavor she engaged herself into. In fact, the Boy Scouts of the Phlippines cited her leadership as Best Over-all Local Council Performance (2000) and the Quezon City Jaycees chose her as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Achievers (TOYA) in 1992.

She is currently serving as Governor of Batangas (also the first female Governor of the province) now on her second term.
